Counseling and Prevention Programs

Patsy's House offers counseling for abused children and other secondary victims of the abuse. Referrals can be made for psychological evaluations and other therapeutic services. Counseling is offered at both our Wichita Falls Center and Bowie Center.

Prevention - Although the support and treatment of child abuse victims is the primary mission of Patsy's House, the advocacy center has taken an increasingly active role in the prevention of child abuse and child abuse awareness. To that end, several years ago the staff of Patsy's House created two unique school-based prevention programs. The Tell, Tell, Tell program is designed for children in grades kindergarten through six (K-6) and is usually presented to children of Archer, Clay, Montague and Wichita counties. Our Service Coordinators, along with their friend “Squawky Chicken,” talk with the children about personal safety and explain the importance of telling if someone tries to touch them inappropriately. Break the Silence covers much of the same material as our Tell, Tell, Tell program but is geared for children in grades seven through twelve (7-12) and usually presented to children in Archer, Clay and Montague counties. Due to the increasing dangers lurking via the internet, our Service Coordinators stress the importance of internet safety through this prevention program. While both programs have served well, they are presented in the same manner and cover the same material each year. For this reason, the prevention programs were not presented to the children of Archer, Clay and Montague counties this year but will resume in the Fall of 2007. Patsy’s House is hoping to adopt new prevention programs in the near future, those include: P. S. It’s My Body and Netsmartz.
